Charlotte Knapp has been a resident of the Town of Rochester her entire life and is a graduate of Rondout Valley High School. 

Charlotte is the office manager and general distribution program director of the Rondout Valley Food Pantry and sits on their board. The pantry serves families in need within our school district.

​Charlotte oversees the day-to-day operations of the food pantry.  She works directly with families to determine their needs. She has built extensive connections throughout the community and has worked with multiple county and state entities as part of Ulster County’s Project Resilience Program. Charlotte is passionate about making sure her neighbors feel comfortable asking for help and resources in a time of need—something that has increased dramatically as a result of the pandemic.

“I want to become a town board member who can make an educated decision after taking all of our residents’ opinions into account. We have a wide variety of residents in our little nook of the world and each person should have their views heard. I believe I am the right person to represent all of you." 

Food and housing insecurity are serious problems throughout the county and within our community. Charlotte believes that Rochester should do more to inform its residents about resources available to them through direct assistance and by helping them to navigate county and state programs.

Charlotte will focus on ways the Board can incentivize workforce housing. She will look into the Ulster County Housing Action Plan which encourages towns to create a responsible housing development plan and identify optimal locations. Additionally, she thinks thoughtful planning and zoning can attract businesses that provide jobs to our local workforce.

Charlotte would like to overhaul our town's digital communications to better keep everyone informed.

“I strongly believe we can reach so many more of our residents simply by improving our social media and website presence. With updates about town activities, town board meetings, resources available to citizens, and road construction news,  we can keep everyone in the loop.  A strong social media presence will also increase our connection with younger residents who are looking to plant roots, work, and participate in this wonderful town.”
